Mental Health - Hypnosis and Meditation

Balancing Body and Mind

The nervous system – especially the vagus nerve – plays a key role in maintaining balance between body and mind.
It influences whether we feel calm and safe or tense and alert, while coordinating essential body functions such as heartbeat, breathing, digestion, and stress response.

When the nervous system is under chronic stress, the body struggles to switch into states of rest, relaxation, and regeneration.
This imbalance can affect the entire body via the gut-brain-axis, e.g. contribute to fatigue, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and tension on both physical and emotional levels.

In my practice in Hamburg, I offer hypnotherapy and guided meditation – gentle yet powerful approaches that help regulate the vagus nerve, calm the mind, and restore natural balance.

Hypnosis can support the release of unconscious tension patterns, activate inner resources, and enhance mental clarity.
Guided meditations help to create a space of calm and mindfulness, strengthen self-awareness, and promote long-term emotional resilience.

Hypnosis – Connecting with Your Subconscious

Hypnosis is a state of deep yet wakeful relaxation in which the subconscious mind becomes especially receptive to positive suggestions and healing impulses.

In my practice, I use gentle, solution-oriented hypnotherapy, tailored individually to your personal needs and goals.
This approach can help restore inner balance, calm the nervous system, and activate your body’s natural self-regulation.

Hypnosis can be supportive for:

  • chronic stress, inner restlessness, and overthinking
  • sleep difficulties (trouble falling or staying asleep)
  • functional digestive issues (e.g. irritable bowel, bloating, tension)
  • pain and muscle tension (head, jaw, neck)
  • emotional blocks and anxiety
  • exhaustion, lack of motivation, concentration problems
  • cravings, emotional eating, smoking cessation
  • psychosomatic symptoms

Meditation – Inner Calm and Clarity of Mind

Meditation can act like a gentle reset for the nervous system.
In my practice, you’ll learn simple, practical techniques to interrupt constant mental activity, recentre body and mind, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.

Whether through guided meditation, mindful breathing, or awareness practices – the goal is not to “switch off,” but to become consciously present.
This mindful awareness strengthens emotional resilience, supports self-regulation, and fosters a healthier way of responding to stress

FAQ

Hypnosis is a focused way of accessing the subconscious mind in a deeply relaxed yet awake state – often with a specific therapeutic goal.
Meditation, practiced regularly, helps cultivate awareness of the present moment and supports emotional balance and inner calm in daily life.

No – previous experience isn’t necessary. I guide you through simple, easy-to-follow meditations that anyone can practice. The goal isn’t to meditate “perfectly,” but to find moments of stillness, reconnect with yourself, and feel more balanced in everyday life.

Each session begins with a short conversation to clarify your goals and define possible approaches for the hypnosis work.
In the first session, you’ll experience a brief introduction to hypnosis and visualize your personal safe place.
From the second session onward, we work specifically on your individual themes.
After each hypnosis, there’s a short reflection and, if helpful, you’ll receive simple exercises or supportive techniques to continue at home.

No. During hypnosis you remain awake, aware, and in control at all times.
It’s a natural state of focused relaxation in which your mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions – but you always retain your values, your boundaries, and your personal agency.

Yes, when practiced by a qualified professional, hypnosis is considered safe.

However, because hypnosis can influence blood flow and autonomic functions, I only use it after prior medical consultation with the following conditions: Epilepsy, up to 6 months after a stroke or heart attack, certain heart or circulatory conditions (e.g. cardiac arrhythmia)

I do not offer hypnosis when the following have been diagnosed: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), severe anxiety disorders or psychoses, major depressive episodes, suicidal thoughts, severe personality disorders

That depends on your individual concern. In many cases, 3–5 sessions are sufficient to achieve noticeable results.
For chronic or long-term issues, a supportive program over several weeks can be helpful. We will discuss and adjust the rhythm together to suit your needs.

Yes – hypnosis can be used as a complementary approach, especially for psychosomatically influenced conditions, such as:

  • irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, or digestive tension
  • muscular or jaw tension, headaches
  • sleep difficulties
  • chronic fatigue or exhaustion

Hypnosis can help regulate autonomic responses and enhance self-regulation, supporting the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

Most people can – to varying degrees. The key factors are readiness, openness, and trust in the process.

No. Hypnosis is a naturally reversible state – without guidance, you simply transition back into a relaxed wakefulness on your own.

Some private health insurance plans or supplementary policies reimburse hypnotherapy in part, depending on the contract.
Coverage by Beihilfe (for civil servants) varies by region, while public health insurance generally does not cover hypnosis.
Upon request, I can issue an invoice according to the German Heilpraktiker Fee Schedule for reimbursement.
